Making progress

I spent some time reviewing research examples to come up with an appropriate research problem and questions. I have an idea what I want to do for the signature assignment. I will finalize later.

I started working on the week 7 paper. It is interesting. I came up with different designs that would test different things/issues (that do not necessarily map to a "cookie-cutter" research methodology such as grounded theory or phenomenology). I need to think about this some more. Maybe I will have designs with names such as "cross-design" or maybe I will figure out what standard methodology is best.

Work continues.

Onto week 7

Upon further review, I think there is a relationship between the week 7 and week 8 assignments (week 8 assignment is the signature assignment). Or maybe I think there should be a relationship. My strategy:
I plan to introduce the study/research in week 7 (briefly) and discuss appropriate methodologies and designs. Then, I will continue the "project" in week 8, providing additional details.

I just decided on an area to focus on. It touches on transparency, collaboration, and strategy using social media. It is very interesting!

This all reminds me of a police officer I once assisted in Linden, Guyana (as well as other dealings with police).

Week 6 paper with qual research examples submitted

I did not attend church again today. I used the time to complete my paper. I submitted it a short while ago.

Making progress

I have a good draft of the paper. It is about 8 pages long. I have to shorten, make edits, and so on. It is interesting that economists wrote one of the papers - the paper on the use of Facebook by the Social Science Faculty at Open University. I guess social media falls under economics too!

Work continues.

Continuing work...

I had trouble with my thumb drive again...a lot of my files got corrupted. So I basically started over. I now have a new draft that is better (I think).

I spent some time today looking at social media jobs and roles in organizations. There are a lot of interesting roles out there. Collaboration using social media seems to be the next big thing!

Working on this week's assignment

A lot of reading required for this week's assignment. The assignment:

Find and review five peer reviewed qualitative studies. Summarize the topic, problem, purpose, design, and findings of each.

(Stated goal: Reading journal articles helps to develop fluency with any research method)

I spent about an hour yesterday searching for and skimming articles for the paper. I found some good ones. I finally decided on five (one I liked - research on food-related tweets - did not make the cut).
