Final signature assignment submitted

I completed and submitted the signature assignment a short while ago. One thing is for certain: signature assignments are a lot of work! I worked and worked and worked on that assignment.

It turned out okay. I think I used all the articles from a previous paper on learning from examples, which is surprising. I used ideas on methodology/methods from the papers. I also noticed that the topics (or sub-topics under the big umbrella: social media) seem very different, but they are actually related.

It is actually the end of the course! No assignment next week!

End of work for today

I just finished my updates for today. I am now getting ready to go. I am on track to complete the signature assignment by the deadline.

I like that I could download versions of the paper from GoogleDocs. I downloaded and saved today's version (in PDF and Word doc formats).

Currently working

I am currently working on the signature assignment. I just made a major change - I removed the research questions. I liked the research questions, but I realize they could be "folded into" the hypotheses. This means you could derive the questions from the hypotheses.

I was out on the nearby field thinking, working.... While out there on the grass, I came up with an idea - the idea that there are different "levels" of unfairness. I just added that thought to the document. I like this topic a lot!

I will post some photos later.  A guy was out there mowing the grass, which reminded me of mowing/"ploughing" the field at a particular institution. I watched that so many times.

Working

I spent some time working on the literature review (in my signature assignment). I will now move on to the 1-3 page assignment due this week. I am pretty much finished. I will review and then submit.

It is very interesting that I am finding lots of quantitative papers on my topic...not a lot of qualitative...

Working, working, working

Due to activities here, I was without internet connection for a while (so worked on the paper without connecting to the internet) and even stopped working on my assignment for a while. There is a meeting and maybe more here - close to the lab.

When I was working, I made a lot of progress on the signature assignment. I worked on the problem statement some more and thought of research questions and associated hypotheses. At my apartment (and on my computer), I reviewed some of my past papers that included culture for information/articles I could use. I decided on three journal articles I read during that first literature review course (they dealt with culture and online reviews).

I made some changes. I also started writing the signature assignment (I am thinking about the signature/week 8 assignment as I work on the week 7 assignment). Time for a break.

Making progress

I spent some time reviewing research examples to come up with an appropriate research problem and questions. I have an idea what I want to do for the signature assignment. I will finalize later.

I started working on the week 7 paper. It is interesting. I came up with different designs that would test different things/issues (that do not necessarily map to a "cookie-cutter" research methodology such as grounded theory or phenomenology). I need to think about this some more. Maybe I will have designs with names such as "cross-design" or maybe I will figure out what standard methodology is best.
